Learn the Right Way!

Thursday: Adults Learn to Skate Class (Roller Skates Only)

8:30pm-9:30pm Thursday Evenings
$15 per class, Please arrive at 8:15pm, bookings not required

Participants must have skates on and ready to commence at 8:30pm

  • BOOKINGS NOT REQUIRED
  • Adult Class – for ages 16 and up only
  • Class is conducted by Victoria Reynolds
  • Class is for roller skates only
  • Absolute beginners welcome
  • Conducted Thursday evenings, please arrive at 8:15pm
  • Class commences at 8:30pm and runs until 9:30pm
  • Participants must have skates on and ready to commence at 8:30pm
  • Roller skates instructors in attendance
  • Participants can on request progress through achievement levels at their own pace
  • Skate hire is included if required, own skates recommended (ask our pro shop for assistance)

Saturday: All Ages Learn to Skate Class (Roller Skates & Roller Blades)

3:30pm-4:30pm Saturday Afternoons
$15 per class, Please arrive at 3:15pm, bookings not required
.

Participants must have skates on and ready to commence at 3:30pm, late arrivals will not be admitted.

  • BOOKINGS NOT REQUIRED
  • Suitable for both children and adults – ages 4 and up (preferably 5)
  • Saturday class is for both roller skates and roller blades
  • Conducted Saturday afternoons, please arrive at 3:15pm
  • Class commences at 3:30pm and runs until 4:30pm
  • Participants must have skates or blades on and ready to commence at 3:30pm, late arrivals will not be admitted
  • Roller skates and Roller blades instructors in attendance
  • Students can on request progress through achievement levels at their own pace
  • Skate hire is included if required, own skates recommended (ask our pro shop for assistance)

Saturday: Learn Freestyle Slalom Skating (Inline Roller Blades Only)

4:30pm-5:30pm Saturday Afternoons
$15 per class, Please arrive at 4:15pm, bookings not required

Participants must have blades on and ready to commence at 4:30pm

  • BOOKINGS NOT REQUIRED
  • Participants should be reasonably competent inline blade skaters in order to undertake this class
  • Class is conducted by Jesse Matthysz and Hannah Gandy
  • Suitable for both children and adults
  • Class is for roller blades only
  • Conducted Saturday afternoons, please arrive at 4:15pm
  • Class commences at 4:30pm and runs until 5:30pm
  • Participants must have blades on and ready to commence at 4:30pm please
  • Blade hire is included if required, but your own is recommended (ask our pro shop for assistance)
  • We strongly recommend a "rocker" wheel setup on your blades 

Sunday: All Ages Learn to Skate Class (Roller Skates Only)

3:30pm-4:30pm Sunday Afternoons
$15 per class, Please arrive at 3:15pm, bookings not required

Participants must have skates on and ready to commence at 3:30pm, late arrivals will not be admitted.

  • Conducted Sunday afternoons, please arrive at 3:15pm

  • Students can on request progress through achievement levels at their own pace

Hannah Gandy

Hannah put her first set of skates on as soon as she could walk! After a few years in a range of disciplines including artistic skating, inline hockey, and speed skating, Hannah discovered freestyle slalom skating. Hannah is currently ranked second in the Australian Women’s Freestyle Slalom Division and will representing Australia in the 2019 World Roller Games in Barcelona. Hannah has coached people of all ages and abilities, including travelling interstate as a guest trainer. Hannah cannot wait to share her passion for slalom with others and help them to develop their skating skills.

Jesse Matthysz

Jesse has been skating since he was 2 years old! By the age of 5, Jesse was playing inline roller hockey and continued to play at a high level up until the age of 14. After Jesse's hockey ventures came to an end, he very quickly picked up freestyle slalom skating and was the first in Australia to perform the famous 'deckchair' trick. Jesse has gone on to become Australia's national Freestyle Slalom Skating champion and will represent Australia at the 2019 World Roller Games in Barcelona. Jesse has undertaken a coaching role to provide a platform for skaters to take their skills to the next level. 

Ursula Fuchs

Ursula has loved skating since she was a child and her involvement in artistic skating started 6 years ago right here at Laverton! After refining her skating skills, Ursula has gone on to compete in artistic solo dance, dance couples and precision in numerous National Championships, and recently represented Australia in solo dance at the 2019 Oceania Championships. Ursula is passionate about helping develop the next generation of artistic skaters and enjoys coaching on top of her busy schedule of training and competing.

Victoria Reynolds

Victoria is very passionate about coaching and has been skating since 1994, rising to compete in the disciplines of figures, dance and precision skating. She has represented the state of Victoria at 9 national championships; captained a Victorian team; and also represented Australia at 2 Oceania championships and 1 World championships. Victoria is an accredited skate coach in both artistic precision and figures, has been actively coaching in the sport since 2009, including numerous star classes. Some of her students have progressed to compete at state (league) level and national level.
